Gravel
What is Gravel?
Gravel rides, sometime called grinders are gravel road races and rides that combine riding on mixed surfaces such as asphalt, gravel, dirt, some singletrack trails and maintenance or B roads. The courses vary from hard-packed dirt to softball-sized rocks. The distance usually ranges between 50 and 150 miles, but can be even longer.
Another way to view it, is finding the best of road riding, without traffic and mix in some country scenery. It’s all about getting out and exploring and experiencing the feeling of “going a great distance in a short time, or going a short distance having a GREAT time”.
