What is Endurance Mountain Biking?
Endurance mountain bike races, often referred to as cross country marathon (XCM), are a very demanding form of mountain bike racing covering at least 25 miles. There are many forms of the Endurance Mountain Bike Race:
The Marathon (The UCI rules limit events to distances between 60 km (37 mi) and 160 km (99 mi))
Endurance (time based) – These are races that offer varying options, typically with 6, 12 & 24 hour options. You can compete solo or as a relay team, with the winners covering the most distance over the given time.
Endurance (distance based) – These races cover a fixed distance (from 50-100 miles), the best known of these is The Leadville Trail 100.
